A 14-year-old boy has died and his mother was seriously injured after a ‘ferocious’ stabbing in Manchester.

The suspect, believed to be known to the victims, fled, with police warning the public not to approach him.

He was described as an Asian male in dark clothes, in his 40s, of medium build and average height.

Officers were called to report a domestic incident at a home in Miles Platting around 9.30pm on Thursday, where the young boy was found stabbed.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, where he died an hour later.

Her mother, in her 40s, was also treated by emergency services with serious injuries and taken to hospital, where she is in stable condition.

Chief Detective Inspector Gina Brennand of Greater Manchester Police described the incident as a “ferocious attack” which officers said was “contained and family related”.

“We are working at a frantic pace to find the person who did this and to get them off the streets and into custody, where we can continue to piece together what we know about this utterly tragic incident,” he said. she added.

A heavy police cordon remains around the area on Bednal Avenue as officers continue their investigation.

The suspect was last seen walking along Sawley Road, which is one block away, shortly after the attack.

Anyone who thinks they have seen the suspect has been asked to call 999.
