In recent years, Samsung has become known for timely updating its wide range of Android devices – from budget phones to luxury foldables – to the latest security update. Here’s every phone and tablet that Samsung has updated with the July 2022 security patch.
Samsung July 2022 Security Update – what’s new
To ensure customers whose devices are affected by security vulnerabilities, Samsung only releases its patch notes for each monthly update once some phones have received it. Similarly, Google hasn’t shared what’s included in the base version of Android of this month’s update, as that information isn’t typically released until Pixel phones receive the update.
Most security updates contain a few dozen security fixes, both for Android in general and a few specific to Samsung phones. We’ll be watching closely for Samsung releasing these patch notes in the coming days.
Devices with Samsung July 2022 security update
While Samsung usually releases its latest security update before the start of the new month, this latest patch was only released on July 1st. Because of this, things seem to be a bit slower this month, but we’ll be constantly updating the list over the coming weeks.
This list includes an indication of where the update first debuted and if it’s also available in the US. The new additions are marked in bold as usual.
Galaxy S series
Given the popularity and level of customer investment in the Galaxy S series, it’s no surprise that Samsung often prioritizes the flagship series when releasing a new security update. Galaxy S phones, which are years old, get the latest security tweaks fairly quickly every month, although given the Exynos and Snapdragon variants, extra work is needed.
As you might expect, the first Galaxy S phones to receive this month’s update were the latest, the Galaxy S22 series, on July 4th. The Galaxy S21 series was close behind and was updated the same day.

Galaxy Note series
For many years, Samsung was one of the main manufacturers of Android smartphones with stylus thanks to the Galaxy Note series. Even though the Galaxy Note series ended after the Note 20 – with the Galaxy S22 Ultra being significantly more successful – those who haven’t swapped out the phone should still see fairly regular updates.
So far, the Galaxy Note 20 is the only device in the series to receive the July security update (and even then only the 5G model), but that should steadily change as the month progresses.

Galaxy A series and budget phones
In addition to the many high-end flagship and foldable phones that Samsung makes, the Korean phone giant also has a variety of cheaper devices on offer. These range from the mid-range Galaxy A series, the budget Galaxy M series, and Flipkart’s exclusive Galaxy F series.
The month started on an odd note as Samsung unveiled the July 2022 security patch on the Galaxy A32 on July 1st. A few days later, the Galaxy A23 followed, which received its update on July 4th.

How to search for the latest OTA on your Galaxy device
If your device claims to have already been updated, but the patch hasn’t arrived for you personally, you can try to update manually. Just open the Settings app, tap Software Update, and choose Download and Install.
