‘I married all my boyfriends…I learned I didn’t have to do this,’ says Patsy Kensit, admitting only two of her four marriages were ‘meaningful’

Despite a long career in show business, it’s perhaps for her tangled love life that Patsy Kensit is best known.
And now – at the age of 54 – she says she’s finally realized there’s no need to walk down the aisle with so many of her boyfriends.
In fact, the former Holby City star even appears to have removed two of her four exes from her husband list.

The actress, who first married in 1988 at the age of 22, is divorced from Dan Donovan, 1980s pop group Big Audio Dynamite, Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr, lead singer of ‘Oasis Liam Gallagher and, more recently, 90s DJ Jeremy Healy.

But now single and ‘outgoing’, Miss Kensit candidly admits that only two of her four trips down the aisle were ‘meaningful marriages’. They are those of Kerr and Gallagher – fathers of her sons James, 28, and Lennon, 22, respectively, who still live with her in north London.
She told the Postcards From Midlife podcast: “Well, I married all my boyfriends, so…that’s something I learned I didn’t need to do.” I can’t change the rules of the law… [but] I was with Jim and Lennon’s dad for years, so I consider them my two marriages.
“I know it’s not allowed, I know there was a ceremony. But I think these are really important and very, very deep and wonderful relationships in many ways.
Miss Kensit married Donovan in 1988 but they separated in 1991. A year later she married Kerr but they divorced in 1995. In 1997 Miss Kensit was married to Gallagher. They separated in 2000 and it was nine years before Miss Kensit walked down the aisle again, this time marrying Healy.
They had been friends since the 1980s. But they split in 2010, citing work pressures.
