A FORMER contestant on the TLC show Ultimate Cake Off has lifted the lid on what it’s like to appear on the show.

Over the past two weeks, a Reddit thread has gone wild with insiders revealing details about which reality TV shows are real and which are faked.

Speaking to the social aggregation platform, a user known as chet11 asked the question: “People who have participated in reality TV shows, what is faked and what is – what is not?”

In response, a user known as henfrigate revealed he was on US show Ultimate Cake Off, adding that “absolutely everything” about the show was fake.

They wrote: “It’s all fake. I was on a baking contest show.

“The judges recorded two takes for each comment, one positive and one negative so the editors could put them together however they wished.”

They then dropped a bombshell that the producers would set the clock back one hour for more time.

“They set the clock back an hour so everyone could finish,” they added.

“Oh yeah and while we won by judge vote, a producer decided that one of the other cakes would film better for the big reveal, so we didn’t win, even though we should have.”

This isn’t the first time a contestant has shared what it’s like to be on a TV show.

In a recent interview, a former Countdown contestant claimed a man threatened to hit her on the head after she appeared on the show.

Following his lost list of accomplishments on the show, an avalanche of wild fan mail has sprung up – but it’s not all been positive.

“There were hilarious and explicit fan mail from middle-aged men and women saying that I inspired them to apply for the show,” she told Metro.

“But also a man threatening to stomp on my head because I moved it to the beat of the music, and a woman criticizing the knot I wore in my hair.
