Everton 2022/23 fixtures revealed

Everton will begin Frank Lampard’s first full season in charge with a blockbuster Goodison Park Premier League game against the manager’s former club Chelsea.

The game on Saturday August 6 is scheduled to kick off at 5.30pm and will be shown live on Sky Sports.

Everton pack five matches in the opening month of the season – before the first Merseyside derby of 2022/23 takes place on September 3 at Goodison.

Lampard takes his side to Aston Villa for Everton’s opener on Saturday August 13.

The following week, Saturday August 20, saw Nottingham Forest’s first meeting since January 1999 as Steve Cooper brought his newly promoted side to the L4.

And Everton are set to play at Forest’s City for the first time in nearly a quarter century when manager Cooper’s side host the Blues on Saturday March 4.

Everton end August with back-to-back matches on the road; against Brentford on Saturday 27 and three days later at Leeds on Tuesday 30.

A unique program for the next campaign foresees a break of more than six weeks for the World Cup, which begins in Qatar on November 21.

Everton’s last game before the competition in Qatar is away against Bournemouth on Saturday November 12.

Lampard’s side return to action on Boxing Day when Wolverhampton Wanderers travel to Goodison.

Everton travel to champions Manchester City on New Year’s Eve and start 2023 with a home game against Brighton & Hove Albion on January 2.

Merseyside’s return derby at Anfield is scheduled for Saturday 11 February.

A 10-game rush between April 1 and May 28 concludes the season, with Everton finishing at home to Bournemouth, returning to the Premier League after a two-year absence.

Fulham, meanwhile, return to the top flight after a year’s absence and Everton travel to Craven Cottage on Saturday October 29. The South West London team are due at Goodison on Saturday 15 April.

The meeting with Chelsea represents a quick resumption of hostilities after Everton beat the London club in a tense Goodison game on May 1.

Indeed, Chelsea have come off on their last four visits to this corner of Merseyside.

Two matches on the initial schedule are likely to be moved back 24 hours. Everton’s away game at Arsenal is scheduled for Saturday September 10 and Manchester United, under new management Erik ten Hag, are set to be at Goodison on Saturday October 8.

Those games, however, are set for Sunday to accommodate Europa League fixtures for Arsenal and United on the previous Thursdays.
