Doncaster Royal Infirmary has been sealed off by police amid an attempted murder investigation

Eyewitnesses reported seeing heavy police activity in the hospital’s accident and emergency department around 7 a.m.

The Doncaster Royal Infirmary has been cordoned off by police.

Police were called around 3.14am this morning after a man was reportedly stabbed on Silver Street.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where his condition remains stable.

Two arrests were made in connection with the incident.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 21-year-old woman on suspicion of being an accessory to a perpetrator. You are currently in police custody.

Silver Street will remain closed while the investigation continues. Other roads that were previously closed have now been reopened.

A small section of Wood Street was also cordoned off by police, with a lone squad car guarding the scene, which revealed a large piece of a broken door inside the cordon.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Anyone with information should call 101 and provide the July 6 incident number, 105.”
