Christian Eriksen: Denmark’s midfielder deciding between Manchester United and Brentford | News from the transfer center

Christian Eriksen is understood to be deciding between a move to Manchester United or staying at Brentford.

Both clubs have made very good offers for the 30-year-old – but United’s is seen as more financially lucrative.

Re-joining Erik ten Hag, with whom he coached before returning to football at Ajax, as part of United’s anticipated new era has its appeal.

However, sources close to the midfielder, whose short-term contract with Brentford expires at the end of June, say he and his family are based in London and have reservations about moving to the North West.

Eriksen is also looking to start every game to secure a place in Denmark’s World Cup team later this year – his priority after missing the Euros due to cardiac arrest in the first game.

He is unlikely to re-sign for Tottenham, who mainly play with two central midfielders under Antonio Conte and have signed both Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma this year.

Eriksen’s comfort in London that money is not his priority and the strength of his relationships with the people at Brentford, which include some of his Danish team-mates and Danish head coach Thomas Frank, put the club in a strong position.

But they remain in the dark about his future as he ponders his options while on holiday, with Eriksen and his agent Martin Schoots keeping secret even their closest in-game confidants.

However, given those relationships and the platform they’ve given him to return to the game, the Bees should expect to know his decision first.

De Jong, Martinez under List of Targets; Wan-Bissaka prepared to fight for the spot

Manchester United remain in talks with Barcelona over signing the midfielder Frenkie deJong.

The two clubs remain divided on their ratings but United still hope they can strike a deal and there is growing belief the player wants to come and reunite with Ten Hag – who he worked with at Ajax.

They don’t pay too much and have other goals. The feeling is that if United were ‘rushed’ into a deal, they would play into Barcelona’s hands in terms of the fee.

Dutch football journalist Marcel van der Kraan warns it would be seen as a “collapse” if Manchester United failed to sign Erik ten Hag’s two key transfer targets – Eriksen and Frenkie de Jong

Meanwhile, Ajax centre-back Lisandro Martinez is a player United are also watching.

He has been a regular under Ten Hag for the last three seasons at Ajax. It is not currently a priority position but with the possibility of departures United are conducting due diligence in this area.

The club also remain interested in the Ajax winger Anthonywho is another player Ten Hag knows and trusts.

Talks are ongoing with Nottingham Forest over the goalkeeper in terms of departures Dean Henderson.

There is no final agreement yet as United want a direct loan while Forest are pushing for an option to buy next summer. There is also debate about the proportion of wages each club will pay during the loan period.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is ready to fight for his place next season but is at the stage in his career where he would like to regularly promote to the first team.

A number of Premier League clubs are interested but no official offers have been submitted.

United would consider suitable offers – but all parties are relaxed about the situation as his contract has two years left. The club holds an option for a further year.
