We are delighted to announce that young defender Lewis Miller will join Hibernian FC on July 1, 2022, pending international clearance.
The 21-year-old signed a three-year contract, with the club having the option of extending it for another campaign.
Although he competed for Central Coast Mariners in the 2021/22 season and finished in Opta’s A-League Team of the Season, Miller will actually join Hibs from Australian side MacArthur FC. The defender signed a pre-contract with the club before accepting his transfer to Scotland. The terms of the transfer will not be disclosed.
Miller, who is currently on international duty with the Australia Under-23s, has five Australian youth caps and helped his side reach the Asian Under-23 Cup quarter-finals.
The athletic right-back, who is equally comfortable on the left, has made 56 career appearances to date after breaking through at the Central Coast Mariners.
On his arrival, manager Lee Johnson said: “I am delighted the club have been able to secure Lewis. We secured his services amongst fierce competition from interested parties in Scotland and around the world.
“Lewis is a real competitor in his style of play and he is lucky to have the physical and technical qualities necessary to adapt perfectly to our way of working.
“Credit also goes to Lewis because he decided to join Hibs for the right reasons. I can’t wait to see what he can do in a Hibs shirt.
Head of recruitment Ian Gordon added: “A lot of work has been done to bring Lewis to the club. He’s someone who really impressed in the A-League last season.
“This highlights our strategy of securing exciting young talent from around the world and how we are expanding our scouting network globally.
“The terms of this deal made it a no-brainer for us because he has the attributes to fit into Lee Johnson’s system.”
